The au pair program matches players with the closest available player to their ranking in the results after each game. However, repeats of matches may occur from Game NINE, and game EIGHTEEN. Players will not meet twice in one day. The maximum number of matches against the same opponent is three, although that is unlikely to occur. FINAL PLAYOFF GIBSON RULE CHALLENGES For the main tournament (22 games) there is no penalty for challenging. However, for the FINAL PLAYOFF ONLY (best of five games, top two players) THERE IS A CHALLENGE PENALTY of five points per move, awarded to the player, if a move is correct. When challenging, both players hide their tiles, then walk to the challenge computer together. The challenger types in the word or words challenged, checks with the player that these are typed as played, and then hits “enter”. |
